How to prepare for your tattoo
Try to get a good night’s sleep and avoid drinking alcohol or taking any drugs 24 hours before your appointment.
Bring a cold drink with you, ideally water and/or something sugary to keep you hydrated and keep your energy levels up. For longer sessions (2+ hours) bring a snack. Getting tattooed, even if it's not hurting you too much, still drains your energy reserves.
Please bring a photo ID to the session so that I can confirm you are over 18.
You are welcome to bring a friend to the session, but I ask that you don’t bring more than two companions as the studio gets a bit too crowded.
The Process
Once you’ve settled into the studio, I will get you to read over and sign a consent form that asks some extra questions and ensures that you understand what the process entails.
We then will talk about the design and your preferred placement, making sure that it's the right size and fits in well with any existing tattoos.
Once you’re happy with the look and location of your design we will begin tattooing. I’ll endeavour to make sure that you are as comfortable as possible throughout the day so please don’t hesitate to let me know if you need to make any adjustments to your pose, take a break, or if you are feeling unwell.
During full day sessions we will both take a break at midday for lunch and a rest. You can either bring your own lunch or pop out to grab something to eat nearby.
Aftercare
Once the tattoo is complete we will let it settle and have a chat about aftercare before I wrap it. I will be sending you more comprehensive aftercare notes after the tattoo is finished and you are also welcome to ask any questions before, during and after your session. You can always get in touch after your tattoo is finished if anything feels wrong or is concerning you. I want to make sure you have the best possible experience at the studio and that your tattoo heals as quickly and comfortably as possible.
That’s it for now, if you have any follow up questions you can message me on Instagram or send an email to info@kieraningram.com
